Not true- you can modify your own post within the first 24 hours. It's explained in the Help pages-

Why is there no "modify" button on my posting ?
Topics can only be modified for 24 hours. This is usually enough to notice typos and other errors. Should the topic need modifying later, please contact a moderator and ask for the topic to be modified.

Yes, apparently you had that privilege removed some time ago but other members can modify within 24 hours
