Thanks, the parents certainly lived in the same town. But most is family legend. I will check with the children. Regards Trish

I now have my doubts about the marriage in Middlesbrough of Thomas Woods and Catherine McElligott. I think that is a different couple.

looking for Thomas & Catherine Wood
« Reply #22 on: Sunday 19 July 15 18:15 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Thomas Wood born Dec qtr 1865, Swindon, who married Catherine surname unknown. I have one daughter Constance Ivy Wood b Sep  qtr 1909 Alnwick, Northumberland married Sep qtr 1929 Bournemouth to William E Worthy born 10 Feb 1905 Bournemouth.  I believe there may have been another child Percy brother to Constance.
I need to find the marriage of Thomas, I have 1911 census for Earsdon, Tynemouth, showing Thomas age 38 b Swindon. I am absolutely stumped, I have searched on line in Northumberland, Wilts & Hampshire. There is family links to Andover also.  I don't know where else to look, I am hoping that someone will be able to fill in the missing gaps, & take me back one more generation.
This is a long story, which regards my gg Aunt Rose Austin nee Warren who was born in Stratton St Margaret in 1874, who moved toWales married then moved to Bournemouth where she unofficially adopted Constance & possibly a brother Percy.
What I am trying to find is a link between Thomas Wood & Rose Austin nee Warren, not only both coming from the Swindon area of Wiltshire, but both settling in Bournemouth. I have had help from other researchers on this site. Regards Trish

A copy of Constance's birth cert will give Catherine's maiden name.  That will enable you to find a marriage and the marriage cert will (hopefully) give his fathers name

Have you looked for a birth for Percy?  If he was born during or after Sept qtr 1911 mothers maiden name will be shown

Trish

This appears to be a duplicate of your June post and I note that my reply 3 on 24/6 gave the same recommendation as above -  buy a copy of the birth cert for Constance
