The Hoy family
« on: Wednesday 24 June 15 19:08 BST (UK) »
My grandmother was Dorothy Ena Susan Stebbings and her mother was Susan Weaver nee Hoy.  I have been sent a memorial card from an aunt for one Nancy Alice Hoy who died in 1902 aged 61, daughter of the late William Hoy in Albury Herts.  I cannot find any information regarding
Nancy and what relation she was to my grandmother.  My aunt has no idea who she was other than she is on a photograph with her mother, my grandmother.  If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Shirley

When was Susan Weaver nee Hoy, born? Could she be William's sister?

Shirley,

Have you followed Dorothy and Susan back through censuses.

1901 has Dorothy E S Weaver 8 yrs with mother Susan born abt 1860, St George in the East.
Is this your family?

Hi all those who have kindly replied.  All I know is that Susan Hoy was born in Wendon Essex in 1833.  She married John Mules.  Think he died and she subsequently married Thomas Davies.  She had a daughter from her first marriage, also called Susan born in 1858 in St George in the East, London.  This Susan subsequently married George Cartwright Weaver and their daughter was my grandmother.

So I am guessing from the info you have found us that Nancy could have been Susan Hoy's sister.

Thank you all.

Shirley

I doubt that she is a sister but I am not sure which Susan you mean.
No I realise you mean the 1833 one of course! Sorry.

In 1861 there is a cousin, Martha Hoy, with the Mules family. She looks to be the one found by groom in 1851 census.
