Laurence Lawless c.1827 Wicklow

The fact that Lawrence is down as married on the register for his death on the hospital record makes sense based on MyLuck's find.

It appears that Lawrence was taken in abt 1895, when he was still married, and was written up as such.

MyLuck has shown you that Lawrence's wife died in 1900 ~ his 1895 entry was obviously not updated.

His death date was the only 'update' to the record.

All makes sense now

Further prison records show her birth address to be Glenealy, Wicklow !

Again, still not sure that it's one and the same person yet though.

Unfortunately not found any links to either of these 2 sponsors. 

My Mum's sister was named Christina so there could be a family link there.  No other Christina's in our line of the Pollard family that I've come accross so far.

I do have all Birth certificates for the children of Joseph Pollard and Margaret Lawless, most marriages and death certificates too.

I'm looking on the 1901 Census for a Mary Lawless who could have registered the death of Lawrence's wife Mary in 1900.

Margaret had a twin called Michael.

This Michael was born in Kingstown (based on prison records ~ match to both address')

Your original question as such I suppose was looking for other Lawless'.

In circumstances like that I look for Godparents to see if there were any family members there.

You can get great leads that way.

Yes, I know you said that you had all the Pollard records, it was just re the Godparent's that I referred back to the Pollards

I've tried contacting others with Dublin born Lawless' in their family trees but so far not had any luck connecting our families.  Michael, Margaret's brother being one.   

Of course there are most likely to have been second marriages somewhere along the line where a spouse has died and finding a connection is even more difficult not just for me but for others too.

Even when you have proof for others they still won't accept it! (Referring to my English side of the family on that one)

It's quite possible that there are no other relations.

Presuming that the Michael on the 1901 Census in Phibsboro WAS Margaret's twin brother, he doesn't appear to have had any children.

Alice had a prolific prison record, !

In 1901 in Rathdown, there is an Alice Lawless marrying ~ There are three unusual surnames attached William Deady, George Carswell & George Insley.

I found this Alice ~ not a perfect match and given her occupation on it I'm hoping it's NOT her, but I get the sneaky suspicion that it is !

Again though, no children if the above IS your Alice.

It's possible that the other children of Lawrence's didn't live into adulthood.

So, it's quite possibly that Margaret is the only child of Lawrence's who gave Lawrence grandchildren, as it were.

That Alice certainly appears to be her.

In 1902 she is in the Kingstown workhouse (under her married name of Alice Deady) making application for a pair of boots and a shawl to enable her to leave the house.
