River Hall - Biddenden
« on: Saturday 27 June 15 03:11 BST (UK) »
HI,

I am asking for any suggestions on finding a history of a house.  The name of the house is River Hall and according to cousins the house is still around.
From what I am told, it is a different type of genealogy to research this type of genealogy.

My family is the Beales who have been in the Biddenden area since the 1600s?   The later generations supposedly lived at River Hall.

Is there records on this type of history?

Thanks for your time,
Dawn

Hi Dawn, just checked the 1851 and their is a Beale family headed by a Richard Beale 34 occ Grazier with wife Elizabeth 32 and large family all born Biddenden residing at what has been transcribed as River HALE House, Biddenden
Census Ref HO107/1620/94/22

EDIT Richard & Elizabeth and family are at River Hall in 1871
Googling River Hall Biddenden lead to a fascinating item re Richard Beale under Tenants for a Nineteenth-Century Kentish Farm, plus a lovely photograph of the house as it stands now.

HI,

I will have to try that - googling River Hall.

Question:  What is a grazier?

My husbands family have the same Beale ancestors.
The earliest Beale's I have traced are Richard Beale from Biddenden 1642 and his wife Elizabeth Beale (nee Newenden) 1646. They had a son also called Richard Beale in 1668 who also married an Elizabeth and had several children. At least one if the children also Richard Beale born in 1716 resided at River Hall.
The following link shows at the bottom of the page other ancestors leaving memorial messages to ancestor who resided at River Hallhttp://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=beale&GSbyrel=in&GSdyrel=in&GScntry=5&GSob=n&GRid=43722530&df=all&
