Tyberton The Forge occupants pre 1912

Hi,
My Great Grandmother Eliza Kearn was born at Tyberton, daughter of Robert Kearn who was the Gardener at Tyberton Court.    1881 Census shows Robert Kearn and some of his family living at the Smith's Shop, Tyberton.      He died in 1886 and was buried at the Parish Church, St. Marys at Tyberton, the grave still quite legibile.

Am wondering if this is the same property you mention, the Smith's Shop.

Thanks for that info. I was told once that the house was once a shop so this as well as the map that kay99 posted that says the forge was smithys this sounds totally plausible. Do you have any further info on Robert of Eliza? This would be much appreciated. Thank you for the names as this is a new lead now and if I find any info on them whilst researching the propert I'll be sure to share if you don't not already know of it.

I have quite an amount of information on Robert Kearn, I will get back to you a little later on, need to dig out my files.    We were over from Australia a few years ago and found the areas where the family lived.   Such a beautiful spot along the River Wye.     Be back soon.

Now, Robert Kearn was born 11.11.1821 and was baptised at St. Marys Parish Church, Tyberton, he was the son of George b. 1796 & Ann Kearn (Karn) who had married at St. Marys on the 19.8.1813.
Robert Kearn married Mary Pugh at the same Church on the 18.7.1842 they had several children, including my Great Grandmother Eliza Kearn b. 20.11.1845.  Robert Kearn was Gardener at Tyberton Court which had been built in 1728, included in the property was the Manor House, three farms with cottages belonging to the Lord of the Manor, Blacksmiths, Carpenters, Woodmen, and servants, all drawn from the village of Tyberton - the village had 157 people and was a self sufficient community.
Robert's wife Mary died in 1853 and he remarried in 1855 to Caroline Meek, they had more children, lived at various places around the area, and by 1886 census aged 66 years, he was living at the Smith's Shop.   Robert Kearn died in 1886 and was buried at St. Mary's Church Tyberton, where his grave still stands.
G Grandmother Eliza Kearn worked as a Servant at the Church House at Madley before she moved to Hereford and her marriage to William Gwilliam in 1868 .
I do have photos of the grave, the workhouses etc. if you would like copies of these, more recent photos though.
If you have further information to give me, would really appreciate that, as we were totally surprised to find Robert's grave at the Churchyard when we visited in 2010.   I wonder now whether George Kearn (his father) was also buried there.   Would love any new information to include in my family history.

I know it has been several years since our last messages. Was wondering if you ever had any more information on the Kearn family?
 I now live in the forge (or what was once the smithy or the smith shop) and have begun my investigations once more.
 I was at the graveyard today in tyberton and had noticed a few names and wondered if any you would be able to shed light on?

Well lovely to hear back,I don't have much more information on the Kearn family, only that I have found one of the descendants having migrated to Australia, prior to my Grandparents coming here.  Did you manage to find the grave of Robert Kearn at the Tyberton Church?

Can you run past me some of the names that might interest you, of the graves which you might like me to shed light on.  In the meantime, I will go back on to my tree to see what I can find.
