corner shop HENLEY

Hi

Not sure if this would be considered Berks or Oxon.

Looking for any info on a corner shop, possibly with a P.O facility in the Henley-on-Thames area in the 1940's.

My mum used to visit it every Thursday.  She remembers catching a bus from Maidenhead to Henley, but cannot remember if she crossed the bridge or not before she had to get off the bus.  Her memory is not quite as good as it was, but not bad for 102yrs. It must have been reasonably close to the town as she can also remember walking into town.

The shop was owned by Emily Lovegrove [husband William].

Any help/info, or knowledge of any photos that might exist would be much appreciated

Wonder if this helps. The nearest date I can find her is in 1939 Kellys directory for Oxfordshire.

LOVEGROVE Emily (Mrs.) Grocer; 49 Harpsden Road.

There was another couple of entries for Lovegrove

Lovegrove Ethel (Miss) Grocer; 22 New Street

Lovegrove L, gents hairdresser: 4 Reading Road.
