Name of father on this birth certificate?

Would you read this as:

May 18 John Armstrong and Grizal Beatty in Holhouse had a __________ son baptized John

-the location Holehouse would make sense

missing word = lawfull ?

ie born to married parents and not illegitimate

What do you think about the location? I don't want to assume it's a misspelled "Holehouse" just because that would make sense.

Sorry, I missed your query on location.  It does say Holhouse but the record looks old and the further back you go the less consistant the spellings become.

You don't say which parish/county you are looking at but you need to check whether there is a place called Holhouse.  If not then it could well be Holehouse.
