I did find a promising looking family in Middlesex with John (a carver and guilder - not a million miles from a cabinet maker?  ) but the Louisa appears to be his sister rather than wife as she is unmarried.

Louisa is John's daughter and marries William Allen in 1853.

That's funny. I completely misread Louisa'a age as 80 something!

A long shot, age, county and mothers name doesn't match, but fathers name and occupation......

My great grandmother was born 1852 London area source her family bible

The family bible states her birthday as April 10th 1851

her death cert it states she was 81 and had been in New Zealand for 68years making her about 13 when she came here

Did Mary Ann die in 1930?  These ages and dates don't tally.  Who was the informant on her death cert and how old did Mary Ann say she was when she married?  Do you have any birth certs for her children?  What was her age and birthplace on those?

Mary Ann death cert she was 81 and it was in 1930 making her born 1849 that is only as correct as information given at time of death the family bible says 1852 i realise nothing matches i am sure no one  new for sure.
I have her intention to marry cert in 1871 she was 21years old on her husbands death cert it states she was 21 when married Mary Ann would have arrived in NZ approx 1864 making her 14 when she arrived as yet I have not found any record of her arriving

Not unreasonable to assume they came to NZ from Melbourne?

A marriage for Frederick Bower, full age, bachelor, cabinet maker, of  Earl St, father Thomas Bower, nurseryman and Louisa Marshall, full age, spinster of New Church St, father John Marshall, farmer, married 11 May 1853, Christchurch, St Marylebone, both signed.

A public tree has Louisa's death certificate from 1878, Kent Street, Sydney, it is filled in by husband Frederick, lists their children as Mary Ann, Clara, Rosa and Lucy Jane (one unnamed daughter deceased). It also states 15 years in NZ and Victoria, 5 years in NSW.

It is looking good she had another daughter called Rosa although on her marriage cert it states her mother as Louisa Raites who knows I will start looking at Frederick Bower in Dunedin Thanks again
