Death Notice wanted from Western Australian Newspaper 1989 please
« on: Tuesday 30 June 15 06:42 BST (UK) »
Is there anyone likely to be visiting the  Battye Library in Perth where one can see newspapers from July 1989 please.
Looking for a death notice that appeared in the Western Australia newspaper on the 28th July.
I would prefer to PM someone with my request if this is possible please.
Thanks Telephonist.

Thanks for your reply, I did ask that service but they came back with expensive charges! Was hoping someone might be going to the Battye Library sometime ?

Can anyone tell me if it is even possible for someone to visit the Battye Library and photocopy a death notice from a newspaper in 1989 themselves please?
Or is this something that only the Library service can do?

Which WA newspaper exactly, also name and date of deceased? Most State Libraries also hold major Australian newspapers on microfilm and yes readers are available to view and copy for anyone at these State Libraries.

State Library of WA told me the following:

A death notice is in the West Australian newspaper on the 28 July 1989 for a Jeannie Gray.

Any help with obtaining a copy of the notice most appreciated.

Hi,

I often go to the State Library of Queensland family history section and the next time I'm there I will see if they hold the West Australian and if so check for the 1989 death notice.

In the mean time the SLQ do have an online Ask a Librarian service which you might like to try just in case it holds the West Australian and you do have the notice date.

The staff in the family history section are very experienced and helpful and this is where the newspapers are held on microfilm.
