Hi - thank you for your replies. Janet Young who I believe was born 12 Feb 1770 at Stotfield - daughter of John Young and Margaret McQueen, married William Crockett on 22 May 1796. William died in the Stotfield disaster of 1806 as did Janet's father John Young. According to some sources Margaret and her daughter in law Janet moved to Buckie. I don't know if the Margt McQueen from Stotfield who died on 7 Feb 1812 is Janet's mum. I would have thought she would be known as Margaret Young nee McQueen but I know some widows used their maiden names after their husband's death. I have had a look at Scotlandspeople and under 'McQueen' - Margt, Margaret etc - there are about 5 possibilities between Moray and Banff - two in 1822 - same day - looks about the right age to have had Janet in 1770 others have no age listed.
