Frances BLACKBURN b. 1885 Wigginton, York

This is a very long shot but I just wondered if anyone could help me to find out what became of Frances BLACKBURN.  She had 9 siblings and is the only one I have not been able to trace beyond the 1911 census.

She was born in 1885 in Wigginton, York to Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Waterton) Blackburn and was their 9th child of 10.  She was baptised on 15 March 1885 in Wigginton.

In 1911 she is unmarried and living with her parents and younger sister Mary in Haxby.

She may have married serviceman and possibly lived at Green Hammerton or Kirk Hammerton in 1940s.

All very vague I'm afraid but thought I'd post anyway - you never know

It's frustrating isn't it when you have just one you can't trace.  I have one sibling of nine missing too but back to Frances.

Do you know if she pops up on any of her siblings marriages for instance as a witness?

Wonder if she died a spinster if she was unmarried at the grand old age of 26 in 1911!

Have you got the death certificates of both parents to see who the informants were?

Milliepede, all of her siblings that married did so before 1911 so no help there.  I did wonder about ordering Frances's birth certificate so I had an exact date of birth to check against potential "Frances" death references but I have a feeling she may have died before this was introduced. No Simpson connections I'm afraid but thank you for the suggestion.

Chempat ordering the death certificates is a good idea I hadn't thought of.  I had details of their burials so the certificates weren't high on my "to get' list.

Just a follow up here, I ordered the birth certificate for Frances hoping that an exact date of birth might help to track her down on the death index or 1939 register but I still can't pin her down.

I thought it might be worth adding her dob of 28 Dec 1884 to this thread just in case anyone else can help with this extra information.

If this fails I may try ordering her father's death certificate from 1931 in the hope that might give some additional information.

Found a Frances Blackburn who had sister Elsie Elizabeth  on Probate records. (EDIT then realised you indicated no connection to Simpson - sorry!)

Have you looked to see if she is in any other person's tree from other sites?

If you can find no trace of her in England, then have you looked in Scotland, or could she have gone abroad? 

Where did the speculation about marrying a serviceman and living at Green Hammerton or Kirk Hammerton in 1940s come from?
