New York Street Directories 1932/1933
« on: Friday 03 July 15 18:18 BST (UK) »
I need to find who was living /had a business at 265 4th Avenue New York in 1932/1933.
According to the 1931 directory it was a Catherine Daniel (resident) and Salvatore Daniel (Business)  -   they don't appear on 1930 census, though another Daniel family is at the address.

Can anyone help me - I am shying off contacting New York Library as last time I asked them a question their reply was a long list of things I could try.

Thanks
John

There is a 1931 Troy, New York city directory with Catherine Daniel and Salvatore Daniel with wife Tomassina at 265 Fourth.

Are you looking for people in Troy or in New York City?

The address I have is from a 1932 magazine and says '265 Fourth Avenue, New York'.
Is there more than one instance of the address? When I did an Ancestry search i simply looked for '265 Fourth/4th' c1932 and got the 1931 listing.

Like Shellyesq says, that 1931 listing is from a Troy directory. Troy is a city in New York state, about 160 miles north of New York City.

If the magazine didn't specify a town, then I would think it was referring to New York City.

A book called Catalog of Copyright Entries from 1938 says that Gramercy Park Building corporation was at that address as of 1937.
