Brady family from Dublin
« on: Friday 03 July 15 22:14 BST (UK) »
My Gt. Grandparents were Michael Patrick Brady Baptised 1854, Rathfarnham, Co Dublin and Bridget Conboy c.1858 Roscommon, Ireland.  1911 Census they are living in Leeson Street Dublin.  They had 18 children born alive and 8 still living.  I've found the baptisms /birth certificates of 13 chldren and I only know of only 6 and possibly 1 other that were alive in 1911.  Seems there might be 1 or 2  other Brady siblings of my Gran, Emily Florence Brady, that survived too.    My Gt. Grandfather Michael Brady a Labourer, lived at 25 Charlemont street Dublin when he died at the age of 71, according to his wife Bridget who was the informant.  Still haven't found when his wife Bridget died either as so many Death Reg's for Bridget Brady!

Children that I know of.

1.  Mary Brady.  AKA Minnie. Born: 1873,  Dublin, Married Arthur Joseph Grace and they moved to  St Helens, Lancashire

2.  Catherine Brady.   Born: 1874, Coolmine, Co. Dublin. (probably died before 1886)
3.  Agnes T Brady  Born:  1876 Belfast Baptised: 7th Jan 1879, Rathmines, Co Dublin
4.  Annie Eliza Brady  DOB 1878, 26 Lawther Place, Belfast Co Antrim

5.  Daniel Brady  Born:  1879, 42 Ranelagh Rd, Rathmines, Co.Dublin.   Possibly Died 1901

6.  John Brady  Born:   1881 (Charlemont St)

7.  Bridget Josephine Florence Brady  Born: 13 Sep 1882, 4 Gordons Lane Sth Richmond St,   Married Bernard Rooney.

8.  Martha Jane Brady  Born: 1884,  4 Gordons Place, Dublin  Married Joseph Thorpe they moved to London

9.  Catherine Brady  Born:  1886,  3 Charlemont St.

10.  Michael Charles Brady  Know as ‘Charles’ Born: 1889,  68 Pleasant Pl Dublin. Married: Bridget O’ Brien

11.  Patrick Brady  Born:  1891,  5 Synge Pl.
12.  Peter Christopher Brady  Born: 1892,  5 Synge Lane
13.  Emily Florence Brady    (My Gran) born 1894 5 Synge Place, Dublin Married James Fedalis Pollard. They move to London.

Big ask I know..but does anyone else know of any other children that died or were still alive in 1911?

Agnes is still alive in 1894 as she is Emily's sponsor but she isn't with the family in 1901.

Hi Teresa

My first observation would be re the 18 children.

While the title says 'born alive' the figure entered may have been an error.

You will note that there's a lot of crossing out on the original.

Bridget may have meant 18 pregnancies, including stillborns or miscarriages.

Also, given their transient nature if there were 18, the missing births and subsequent deaths may have not been registered.

The RC records will be online on the 8th of this month so a few more may crop up there.

Trying to look for Agnes Brady who was still alive in 1894.

The only thing I can find is an Anne Agnes Brady marrying in 1895 to a William Mullen.

This is them in 1901.

No sign of them that I can see in 1911.

It's a total long shot though !

Re Daniel Brady b 1879 - Possibly died 1919!

Was this abroad.

The only one I can see in Dublin in 1901 was someone else's child.

I too had origianall thought the same thing about 18 children being born alive but after tracing an  older living relative in the States, Oonagh, who sadly has now died, she told me that Michael and Bridget Brady had about 20 children and did I know that?

In fact it was through her that I was given Michael Brady's Death Certificate. Martha Brady's Baptism certificate and Martha's original RC Church Marriage Certificate.   (Oonagh was descended from My gran's older sister Martha Jane Brady.)

I also found it strange that none of the earlier births and deaths were not registered either.

My mistake..Typo error sorry..  Daniel Brady's death Reg was in 1901 not 1919.  I've amended my original posting.

The Brady family on the above 1901 census and 1911 are related from the previous generation!

As for Agnes T Brady..I'm still stumped on that one too.   Another living Brady relative in Dublin thought she may have married a  Meehan but no one else knows anything about her.
