This is from a burial register scan
« on: Monday 06 July 15 01:59 BST (UK) »
I can see that Con means Consecrated, but I'm not sure what the other term is.  Any suggestions please?

I hope this works!

Many thanks

It looks like 'Ground'…as in Consecrated Ground.

Cha. Ground = "Chapel Ground."

Ie :- Monumental Inscriptions from the remaining stones in
St James’s Chapel Burial Ground, Hampstead Road.

Thank you.  So, a chapel ground was consecrated?

I'm looking at two children with the same surname who are buried in Camden.  This is from the burial record of an 8 year old girl.  Eight days later an 18mth old boy with the same surname and from the same street (his record has a street number but hers doesn't) was buried in an Unconsecrated area.

I'm sure the 18mth boy is ours.  I don't know why he wouldn't have been buried in an unconsecrated area.  Would anyone know the rules around who could be buried where please?

Have a read of the first part of this. In this case, only part of the ground was consecrated by the Bishop of London.

Thanks malky.

Does this mean they could have been Catholic?  The parents were married in an Anglican church, as were a couple of generations of the father's family.

Which burial ground in 'Camden', and what date?

St James, Hampstead Road (if it is that one, as suggested?) belonged to the Anglican parish of St James Westminster.
