A place called 'Lincell' in Shropshire? *COMPLETED*
« on: Monday 06 July 15 10:11 BST (UK) »
I have found a probable reference to my 6 x great grandfather in Joseph Foster's Alumni Oxonienses as being the son 'of Thomas of Lincell, Salop, pleb.' (clearly Andrew Mitchell would not have had a problem back in the 18th century! - the entry is for the period 1715-1719).

There is no parish of this name and a search in Genuki's Shropshire gazetteer doesn't yield any clues either so I though I would enlist the help of any Shropshire experts on here since it is not a county I am familiar with myself.

Obviously, I am hoping to find the parish within which 'Lincell' lies so that I can take my search further...

Sorry, like a lot of problems, stating it clearly to others helps you to find a resolution yourself.

It turns out that Lincell or Linsell is an one-time alternative to 'Lilleshall'.
