Edmund Noddings of Banbridge
« on: Tuesday 07 July 15 06:49 BST (UK) »
I know that Edmund was born in 1890 in Seapatrick nr Banbridge and was living with his grandmother Sarah Noddings and two aunts in the 1901 census. From then on his whereabouts becomes a mystery. I would like to know what happened to him.
Thank you

Did his mother Sarah marry after 1911?  There is a Banbridge marriage for a Sarah Noddings in 1912. The other names on the page are David Fry, Samuel McCarrison, Thomas Doak.

Groom is David Fry- father called John. Sarah's father is Christopher.

An online tree gives birthdate as 22 Sept.1890 with his mother as Sarah Noddings. Note: the 1901 census does not say that Sarah and Lizzie are his aunts.
The same tree says Sarah married 1902 to James Gray but gives her parents as Albert Noddings & Elizabeth Truesdale  ???

Checking GRONI's index, Edmund Noddings born 22 Sept.1890 Banbridge district but no mother's maiden name shown so he likely was illegitimate.

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I have to thank you Shaun for finding Edmund on the 1911 census. I assume that he is living with his Mum in the 1911 census. She is described as being single so I must agree with aghadowey that he is probably illegitimate. His mother was Sarah J (Jane) Noddings daughter of Sarah Noddings on the 1901 census. The other two Sarahs mentioned were granddaughters of Sarah senior widow of John Noddings.
I wonder what happened to Edmund?
Thanks again

After 1911 census it can be difficult to trace people who stayed in Ireland without having an idea of where they lived, etc.

Since Noddings is not a common surname, and Edmund Noddings even more unusual, perhaps you could start looking through online directories, checking Banbridge, Belfast, etc.
