Walter Crighton Watch and Clockmaker Nungate Haddington
« on: Tuesday 07 July 15 21:05 BST (UK) »
Hi there;
  I'm still trying to connect some dots on my Haddington Crighton/Crichtons.  I am wondering if someone would have a few more details on Walter Crighton who was a well known watch and clockmaker according to Donald Whyte and some other directories and listings.  He seems to have been in Nungate in 1810.  I haven't found any burial records to date. Just wondering if anyone else knows where he may be buried, or his date of birth to help sort out any potential connection?
Here's hoping!

Not sure how it fits in but there is a baptism for a Walter Crichton in the Scotland Births & Baptisms, son of Colline Crichton and Margaret Aikman, 21/11/1752 at Prestonpans, East Lothian.

Yes I have seen that and it does seem to work with a baptism 1788, Haddington Parish for Walter Crichton and Agnes Yule's daughter Mary.  He was recorded as a Watchmaker. Thank you.

Ah! Now I find that the Prestonpans marriages from 1717 to 1788 are missing so that explains why I haven't been able to find a marriage for Agnes Yule and Walter Crighton.  Perhaps I will have to check out the Prestonpans baptisms to sort this one out.  Thanks for your contribution miriamkinga.
