Knocklinagad (?) Anne Murphy
« on: Wednesday 08 July 15 14:42 BST (UK) »
Looking for assistance, trying to trace an Anne Murphy who was a midwife from a small village called Knocklinagad (?)  in County Carlow, not  sure of the spelling.  Anne ::) moved to Dublin and married a man called Ellis and lived in Sandymount Dublin. I think they may have been living in Dublin around 1860. Anne and her husband had eight children. My grandmother Elizabeth Mary was born in Dublin in 1851 and married Michael Connolly in July 1878 in the Star of the Sea Church in Sandymount Dublin.

There is a place named   Knockclonegad  on this link.  Think that could be it.

Many thanks for your prompt assistance Conahy  Calling.
Looking through the Carlow list which is very comprehensive, I think you hit the nail on the head with Knockclonegad. Information on the place is a bit sparse as they don't even list a church or a holy well there.

Regards

Hallmark...Thanks for all your assistance. Checked on the area using Griffiths but it seems as if there were about 12 families of Murphy living in the area so I'm not sure where to start as I  guess Anne would have been born about 1830 and I doubt there would be any way of checking from church records or BMD records for that period. As I live in South Africa it's hard to know where to follow up the trail.
