Family story has it he is related to Robert Burns the poet!!!

Daughter Ann Burns born 1825 in Scotland emigrated to New Zealand (know all about her from 1866 in NZ (she was formerly married to Charles Thompson and then a relationship with  Watson).

Possible siblings for Ann?

Elizabeth 1826 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XTR3-NBW

Maybe the couple were originally from East Lothian? Some other children showing for a couple with the same names there:

David 1812 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XTTY-HYF
Margaret 1821 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XTYF-VZG

Possible marriage or banns entry here from the Old Parish Registers in 1811 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XTGF-8BS

What have you got on Anne before 1866 in Scotland? It might help you in confirming further family details. Have you got any children and census info for her in Scotland? Father's occupation etc. can also help in identifying a family group on Scotland.

*****Wright is an occupational surname originating in England.[1] The term 'Wright' comes from the circa 700 AD Old English word 'wryhta' or 'wyrhta', meaning worker or shaper of wood. Later it became any occupational worker[2][3] (for example, a shipwright is a person who builds ships), and is used as a British family name. Wright is also an anglicized version of the Scots Gaelic clan name "MacIntyre" or "Mac an t-Saoir", meaning "Son of the Wright", or "Son of the Carpenter"

This individual has researched the Robert Burns tree and has a son Robert Burns to Janet Clow in 1788 in Edinburgh.
I reproduce the footer info from his website and he is appreciative of comment etc.

This post is a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws. Unfortunately my preferred method of writing (Parker Quink on Basildon Bond) cannot be used.

The Burns' were Burness and changed the name when they moved south. There's a Burns family tree online somewhere, I remember looking up one of the poets daughters in Whitburn on it.

The fact that he's described as a Wright indicates that he was possibly a member of the Wright's Trade Guild in Edinburgh. membership should be in print or on line and give his fathers name.

Skoosh.
