Possible 2nd marriage for Wolfenden Kenny in Mountmellick
« on: Friday 10 July 15 11:25 BST (UK) »
These boards have changed since I last posted so hope this is in the right place.
The old chestnut, Wolfenden Kenny (B 18.11.1780 Mountmellick, Rosenallis, Queens) initially married Mary Kettle in 1805 in London.  First child born Ireland, 2nd and future children born London. Mary died in 1812 London, assume following childbirth, as their 3rd child, Edward Kenny was born 4 days prior Mary's death.
The next child of Wolfenden was born in 1816 with mother named as Mary. There seems no UK trace of Wolfenden's 2nd marriage so is it possible he returned to Ireland to family and re-married there sometime between 1812-1816?

These boards have always been of such great help in the past, Im sure something may come to light.
Apologies if posted in wrong place/way
Thankyou
B

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thankyou - just had quick look, but cant see anything in the index covering 1812-1816.
Am I being a little shortsighted?!
Thankyou for very quick response

Were this family RC ?

If not then you won't find them on NLI.

rootsireland is a pay per view site and covers Laois (other religions) quite well but you can't guarantee anything and might be an expensive gamble.

Thanks everyone. Must admit, since that original posting, have discovered much about Wolfenden Kenny and his family - ancestors and descendants.  Have also acquired his Peninsular War medal, thanks to advice - from memory - from someone on Rootschat.

Just nothing on a 2nd or even 3rd marriage! The mention of Samuel Deverell as Primary Beneficiary/Executor - he was WK's grandson - son of Anna Beaumont (nee Kenny) Deverell.

Such a shame that registrations of birth in the 1800s didn't give mother's maiden name!
Oh well, back to the drawing board for me!
Many thanks
B

Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 and mother's name is included on the certificate
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
