Help finding my great-great-great grandmothers name.
« on: Friday 10 July 15 20:57 BST (UK) »
My great-great grandfather was John Clark(e) born 1853-55 in Liverpool, married to Margaret Long.  His father was Philip Clarke abt 1809, Ireland, married to either a Catherine or Elizabeth. Looks like he had two brothers John and Patrick. All Roman Catholic and living in Vauxhall area of Liverpool. I can find no further clue as to my gt-gt-gt grandmother's name.

Welcome to Rootschat :)

In 1871 Philip's wife is enumerated as just "C" Clark, aged 50.  The youngest child in that census is Matthew, aged 3.

If you take Matthew Clarke forward to 1881 you will find him with his widowed mother Catherine Clarke, 61 b Ireland. RG11/3658/7/10.

Catherine's maiden surname looks like Soraghan on the baptism of son James on 2 Dec 1860 (he was born 24 Nov 1860).

Your John was baptised at St Mary's, Liverpool on 22 May 1853 having been born 17 May 1853.  Parents Philip and Catherine Clarke. Godparents Thomas & Catherine Corcoran.
