Silksworth - Browns Fried Fish Shop
« on: Sunday 12 July 15 12:00 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone know anything about Browns Fried Fish Shop in Silksworth, i.e. where it was.  Was it in Castlereagh Street or in Seaham Street?

Any other information on it would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mo

In the 1911 census No. 1 Castlereagh Street was a shop, and No. 2 a private house.

The last of the BROWN's to have the fish & chip shop was Harry BROWN.  He died first of July 1992 aged 64 years.  He is buried next to my Father in Law in St.Matthew's churchyard in Silksworth.

Hi Williem

Thanks for that.  More precise details for my tree  ;)

I had always thought that Ralph was the one who owned the Fish Shop after his Dad died.  Ralph died in 1996 so maybe he handed it over to Harry before then.

Mind you, it was "me Mam" who told me Ralph had it, but maybe she was confused as it was my Dad's family.

I will go with your information.

Thanks again

Mo
