Anyone know the War Memorial in Glen Brerechan?
« on: Monday 13 July 15 17:06 BST (UK) »
I went over into Perthshire last week photographing various things and photographed a War Memorial in Glen Brerechan near Dalnacarn.  As so often happens it just refers to 'the district' but I don't know what district.  Surprisingly I could not find anything about it except a couple of photographs on general photography sites.

I have got it added to the RCAHMS's Canmore but would like to name it properly.

My pictures are on FLICKR.

I wonder if anyone can help?

Hi Martin,

If I am picking you up properly the district would be Blairgowrie

I don't think so, it is some distance from there.

It must be the memorial for some small local district.  As I wrote with the images, it is in Moulin parish but there is a War Memorial for Moulin Parish in Moulin.

It could just be Dalnacarn or Glen Brerechan WM but trying to find someone with local knowledge who might know.

It's the Straloch War Memorial apparently.

According to one website it was next to the Straloch Parish Church but that was sold and converted to a private house.  A farmer saved it and moved to the present location on his land.  He places the wreath on it every year.

Hello, I was in Scotland this past summer looking for this monument because my great uncle is named on it. I am interested in finding out what happened to the Steele family, who lived in the area. My Grandfather and one of his sisters ended up in Ontario, Canada, but I do not know where anyone else went.

Hi K,

Maybe an idea to open a new thread with your query with as much info. with names/dates etc. as others may relate better with it?
