Upton, Markfield and elsewhere 1700s
« on: Monday 13 July 15 22:38 BST (UK) »
I have John Upton m Mary Cramp in Desford on 13 Sept 1745. The marriage register states that John was from Markfield.

I've been trying to "prove" that John was the son of Henry Upton of Markfield - Henry certainly had a son John (as per his will) but no baptism has ever come to light.

John seems to have died in Desford in 1811 and the burial register gives his age as 102, so a birth year of 1709 (ish). It has just struck me (slow that I am!) that that would make him 36(ish) when he married Mary and hence quite likely to have been previously married.

So, does anyone have anything on a CD to suggest a marriage for John Upton of Markfield sometime maybe in the 1720s/30s and/or any baptisms or burials for any family of John before his marriage in 1745?

Thanks in advance!
