ANN BARTON 1901 CENSUS
« on: Tuesday 14 July 15 11:11 BST (UK) »
Could anyone please find me the Bartons on the 1901 census. William Barton born 1832 Orell and wife Ann born abt 1835 Wigan.
They died in 1907 and 1913, so should be there. The last address was the White swan on Warrington Road but in 1901 their daughter and husband live there. At their time of death they lived in Wrightington. Two youngest Daughter were Selina and Ada, I can't find them either, maybe mis transcribed.

Many Thanks

Thanks for this information, I have since found that Elias died in Australia as did children Lillian and William, so I should think Selina did too. That just leaves Ada, Ann and William Barton on the 1901 census.

It looks as if Selena  and a son came back to England for a visit, as they sailed back to Sydney, Australia on the 19th October 1921 on board the Suevic. Selena was 47 and her son Ellis was 9.

I thought that perhaps finding Edith in 1901 might lead to finding her parents, but she was living with her brother George H Barton, his wife Kate and their 3 month old son at the Foresters Arms Hotel, Bickershaw Lane, Abram, Lancs.

Thank you all for this information, there has been some confusion as to Edith's name, she seems to have been born as Eda on Lancs BMD.
Her parents lived at Smallhouse wrightington in 1907, I thought they might have been there in 1901 but couldn't find Smallhouse.

She is also Eda on her baptism from lan_opc

Baptism: 13 Jan 1878 Christ Church, Ince, Lancashire, England
Eda Barton - [Child] of William Barton & Ann
    Born: 21 Dec 1877
    Abode: Manchester Road
    Occupation: Publican

but Edith on her marriage (if the marriage to Samuel Anderson is the correct one)
