Where do I go from here?
« on: Tuesday 14 July 15 14:02 BST (UK) »
Forgive me if I am asking something that everybody else knows, but I have just stumbled across this site and I have only recently tried to trace my ancestors.  More by luck than by judgement, I found a record of the marriage in 1790 of my great (seveal times over) grandparents.  Apart from their names, the exact date (27/12/1790), and the fact that it took place in Aston Juxta, Birmingham, there is no more information.  Is there any way to follow that up?  Any ideas would be gratefully received.  I think that they were Roman Catholics although I am not certain.

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Perhaps if you gave us the names for the 1790 marriage, we would be able to offer some help, and also where you found the details of the marriage.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Hi BumbleB.  Thank you for responding.  I found the transcription in findmypast.  I am not too sure how...  Their names were Sarah and William Walker.  I think that her maiden name was Walker but again, I am not certain. Sorry to appear so vague; I really am new to this but I hope I will improve!

If you put your replies on this page then anyone else interested will be able to see.
So the last info you have is that of your 3Xgreatgrandfather William b.1801 had parents William & Sarah or as your last message said, Joseph & Sarah & they lived in Aston.
Probably the best way to proceed is to tell us the last piece of positive info you have confirming parentage of one of the Walkers.
Walker is a common name & you need to get the right family.
