I am trying to trace the parents of a Thomas Williams born in 1842 Neath who was living in Barrow in 1881.

Do you have Thomas marriage as that should name his father

If you don't know the maiden name of his wife one of the childrens birth certificates should give it

I have just split off your reply to create a new topic. Barrow-in-Furness came under Lancashire upto 1974.
