... yes, middle name.  ;D    Just spotted on the "British India Office Pension Registers - Orphan Image"
[at FindMyPast website] under listing for (Captain) J.W. O'DOWDA, the names and dates of birth for his children.   "Barney" is shown as "Bernard Clement O'DOWDA" - born 21 March 1874.

Just a tip when searching the newspapers, try leaving out the apostrophe in the surname,  (e.g. search "Odowda" ) ... it often turns up additional info.

In the 1891 UK census 17 yr old Bernard C O;Dowda is a pupil at Christ's College,The Village,Finchley Middlesex,born in India

There is also a Benjamin F O'Dowda aged 14yrs

Constance Laura married Matthew O'Connor in 1931.

Clement married Gladys Gwendoline Smythe in 1933.

Clement died in 1986. Date of birth 1.10.1909.

Probate (1974) held @ Auckland Archives for Montague O'Dowda of Gisborne, retired ex Insurance Manager.

Ronald died in 1981. Date of birth, 13.4.1903.

His probated will (1982) held @ Auckland Archives.
