More info.

Quote..."My Taid found employment as a cowboy with a local rancher because he was a highly skilled horseman, a trade he had learned from the gauchos in Argentina. My Uncle Robert Richards still farms the original homestead."

Looking at this note there must have been another brother besides Robert who continued to live in Canada. (The "Taid = Grandfather isn't named, damn it!)
Thanks for the 2 links. The old e-mail also states that "My Nain, (=Grandmother) was related to the Evan Jenkins family. We know that Robert stayed in Canada so the "Taid" mentioned above must be Michael. What happened to these two men and their descendants ... any ideas?

Just seen the link from Cosmac showing the burial of Michael at Bangor cemetery. His wife Margaret, dying at the age of 100, makes her the oldest Richards family member in a vast family tree.

Also just spotted their son, Morris Richards in the same register of deaths. He died in 1932.

Hi Maureen. I always keep the interesting URLs until the long and snowy Swedish winter sets in. Usually by that time I've completely forgotten what I was supposed to be looking for, hence the old e-mail that I've been quoting from!
I see that you are impressed by the numbers of children in families. My father was born in 1898, the same year as the centenarian Margaret. I'm one of 14 children, his father was considered to a bit gay with just 7 children. His father had 13 and his father, the father of the Patagonian Richards, had 14. His father, the Rev. John Richards had 10. You can imagine the numbers in the family tree and how long it takes to track them all down.
                     regards.

Hi,

Maureen - very interesting, I did like the quote from the 2002 celebration in honour of
Welsh pioneers.
""To be born Welsh is to be born privileged, not with a silver spoon in your mouth, but with poetry in your blood and music in your soul.""  ;D

cosmac - wow, great find, great info.

viking666 - From Library and Archives Canada, there is a photo of the Welsh Patagonians
leaving England for Canada on the "Numidian" Click to enlarge.

Hi DB.
The new link works ... I read through that info last winter and it gave me the names of the brothers. Knowing now that just two stayed in Canada I am trying to advance with their trees. We know that both married but, except for the death record of Michael's son in 1932, I have no records of any children, dates of marriage etc. and that's what I need help with.
