Francis McArdle m Jane ?

Trying to find a marriage [and anything else] about Francis McArdle from Cladymore Armagh who went to Scotland [I think Hurlford] and married a local girl called Jane [don't know her maiden name]

He was born in 1872 and his mother died in childbirth. He was raised by his mothers people,Loughrans in Armagh and left for Scotland as soon as he was old enough.

This information is from the mention he got in his father's will.

Any help much appreciated!

Hurlford is on the outskirts of Kilmarnock. There is one possibility in Paisley (north of Kilmarnock) in 1901- a Francis McArdle (born c1869 Ireland, brickfield labourer) with wife Janet (born Paisley), children (Jane, Philip, Mary) and father Philip (born c1832 Ireland, mason's labourer). The 1911 census might give a more exact place of birth than 'Ireland.'

The only reference I have for Hurlford is in his father's will so that might be wrong.

There is a marriage entry which is likely for Francis McArdle to a Jane in 1895 in Paisley Renfrewshire. You can view the original image on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk This cert image will include full details on bride and groom's parents, including mothers' full names etc. This would let you confirm you have the right details for Francis.

Added: This son is the son of Phillip (mother Mary Gallagher, deceased) and connects to the census entry that aghadowey mentioned above. Wife Jane Muirhead. Jane can be a variant of www.whatsinaname.net/female-names/Jane.html

From what I have in the index on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/Search/results.aspx - the marriage mentioned above, with a Francis with father Philip, is the only in Scotland I can see for a Franc*s married to a J*an* (to pick on spelling variants) between 1889-1940. Maybe marriage for your Francis was in Ireland rather than Scotland, if you are certain on wife's first name?

Father definitely John? I know, you have his will, this is what you are working from...!

The only mention of zJane was in the will.

I'm pretty certain though that Francis's father was John McArdle as I have certs from Groni as well as I for from family notes. The notes also state he married and settled in Scotland and had a family there,but that s all the info I have unfortunately.

That looks like a good fit with location and age etc for Francis, aghadowey 

Struggling with SP on index entries with the names and dates we are building up. Maybe one of the children's birth certs will help with the parents' marriage date etc...
