Clarendon Hotel, Nottingham

Hello,

Does anyone know where this hotel is/was?  I believe it was in the Quadrant but I can't find out whereabouts that was. I'm looking specifically for the Carlton Cigar Divan which was against the hotel - also known as Cox's Cigar Divan.

Either side of "The Quadrant" entry are "Clarendon Street and Burton Street"

If you zoom on the map you will see on Lower Parliament St at the top of Market St a triangle with a dot in it.

That is the position of what is now called Theatre Square with the Theatre Royal.

Burton St is at the rear of the theatre, Clarendon St doesn't exist now.

Thank you all for your replies. The postcard was just what I wanted. I am researching for my husband's cousin whose great great grandfather George Harry Stevenson  was the manager of the Divan at one time in the 1880s.  Thanks for the directory entry. I don't find the newer version of Historical Directories as easy to navigate as the old version.

Agree about the change to Historical Directories and the change in search but if you read the explanation about why the change came about, you will appreciate why there's still a free facility (and worth its weight in gold).
