Look up in the SOG
« on: Monday 20 July 15 15:09 BST (UK) »
Hello, I'm hoping that there might be someone who visits the SOG that would be kind enough to look up a Faculty Marriage Licence for me, the date was the 1 May 1778 between Richard Green and Thomasine Busby.

Crossing my fingers and toes, Brenda

Researchers in and around London who do look-ups are few and far between. You might have a bit of a wait for someone else to come along with an offer of help sooner than Steve.

What are you trying to establish?

I'm hoping to ascertain any information that will help me with regards to this couple. I realise that there will most likely not be a lot, but hopefully there will be something to confirm if they are the couple I am seeking.

Thank you for your interest, kind regards, Brenda

Thank you so much, I wouldn't have been able to get there myself, you're a star.

Very best wishes, Brenda

Hi Brenda

The parish registers for St Giles in the Fields have been recently deposited at the LMA but have not been digitised or transcribed for the London collection on Ancestry.

If you need sight of the marriage in the register then you can pay for the expensive LMA research sevice or hope for the generosity of another chatter doing the look-up for you. A transcription can be freely obtained but a camera licence costs £5. I don't know if the registers have been filmed at all. If they have, a cheap photocopy might be available for you. I tried to access the LMA catalogue online to check but it isn't working just now.

Films of the registers have long been available at LMA. They were filmed years before the registers were deposited.
