South Australia death certificates
« on: Monday 20 July 15 16:37 BST (UK) »
Through FindMyPast I have the dates of death of 2 relatives in 1987 and 1991. How easy is it to obtain these certificates from the UK?

You can't as they haven't been deceased for 30 or more years.

Perhaps if you read the Access Policy it might help:

I can look up the Death Notices in the Adelaide newspaper for you, if that helps at all.

You may like to read what information is available on death certificates in South Australia
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=368744.0

If you would post some names it would help us find burial records.

Death notices in the Advertiser are indexed here and available for a fee.

I regularly go in to the National Library to scan my broad family's family notices in, most commonly, The Adelaide Advertiser.  Further to Cando's note above, if you find there are notices on the SA Genealogy database I can scan them and send.

Hi both of the people I am looking for would appear to be in the death notices.  They are Percival Stuart Watts who died in 1987 and Josephine Mary Watts who died in 1991.
csdaly it would be fantastic if you wouldn't mind looking out these notices.  I know from migration records that they had 3 sons, and it is these sons I am trying to get more information on.  I am updating the Malim family tree and Josephine is my relative.
Many thanks!

You need the dates for someone to search for the death notices or you could use the Ask a Librarian Service at the State Library of South Australia.

The Savill Index of Funeral Notices [http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/savill/index.html] gives a strong indication of the dates of death notes.

Watts  Percival Stuart  1987-01-10
Watts  Josephine Mary  1991-04-25

I'll probably be going in to the NLA in about five hours (subject to getting out of work in time), so will scan and send by PM.  The SLSA does do some for free, though they have their limit.
