Baptism Margaret Ellis
« on: Tuesday 21 July 15 12:14 BST (UK) »

I am hoping that someone can help me find the baptism of my 2 X great grandmother Margaret Ellis.  On my great grandmothers birth certificate (born 30 May, 1864) in Victoria it said that she was born in Llanfachath, Anglesey, Wales.  I believe she was born around 1829.  Her marriage certificate has her father as John Ellis farmer, her mother was Jane Jones.
James -Victoria, Australia originally from Keynsham, Somerset.
Janes - Keynsham and Bristol area.
Heale/Hale - Keynsham, Somerset
Vincent - Illogan/Redruth, Cornwall.  Moved to Sculcoates, Yorkshire; Grass Valley, California; Timaru, New Zealand and Victoria, Australia.
Williams somewhere in Wales - he kept moving
Ellis - Anglesey

Thanks Kay for looking, I had found that one, but don't think it is right because of the distance.  Perhaps she wasn't completely truthful about her age.  Oh well I will keep looking.  Another problem is I don't know if they were non-conformists or not.  On the shipping records when they came to Australia her husband said they were Baptists.

In the 1841 census I think I have found them in the Parish of Bodedern, at Byarth.
John Ellis.  40.    Independent
Jane.           40
William.        2
Margaret.     11.  (I think it is written as Margard)
Anne.            9
Grace.           7
Elizabeth.      5

All born in the county.

In 1851 she is a visitor at the Bulls Head, in the village of Menai Bridge age 21.  The head is Elizabeth Ellis who had been married to a Thomas Ellis who died in 1849.

These are presumed Kay.  I have found them very difficult to track down.  I have not been able to confirm her parents marriage either.  I have found a couple after she was born and one quite some time before she was born which could fit with the age of her parents, but it has the name of John Hughes Ellis.

Thanks for taking the time to look for me.

Ellis - Anglesey

Yes -I saw the marriage of John Hughes Ellis but this does seem to be a completely different family- Edit - or maybe not???

I must admit that I can't see baptisms for any of the other children you found in 1841??

The John Hughes Ellis family in 1851 does tie in fairly well with daughter Grace Jones Ellis???

John Hughes Ellis 52 Llechylched, Anglesey  Gent Farmer
Jane Ellis    50
Grace Jones Ellis 17
William Ellis 7
Elizabeth Ellis 3

I think the marriage of John Hughes Ellis and Jane Jones at Llanbeulan 22 May 1818 is a possibility for the family in Bodedern in 1841 as they seemed to have had children:

William Ellis baptised Llechylched 7 Oct 1838, son of John Hughes & Jane Ellis
Anne Jane Ellis baptised Llanbeulan 19 Dec 1831, dau of John Hughes & Jane Ellis, Treban, Gent.

But I haven't found baptisms for Grace, Elizabeth - or Margaret.
Anglesey - Thomas:
Bodedern, Heneglwys, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll.
Anglesey - Jones:
Llanfaethlu, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll, Rhoscolyn.
Anglesey - Parry:Llanfair-yn-Neubwll.
Anglesey - Lewis:Llanbadrig.
Anglesey - Willins & Tyran/Tyrer

Caernarvonshire - Evans and Lewis:Llanberis.

Denbighshire - Jenkins:Llandynan, Llantysilio, Cerrigydrudion.
Denbighshire - Jones:Rhos, Ruabon.
Denbighshire - Jones:Henllan

Flintshire - Mathews:Northop

Thank you Kay and dragonT for trying to unravel the mystery of Margaret Ellis and her family.  This is a difficult family to sort.  I believe that the girls came out to Australia at various times.  Every now and again I come back to them trying to sort it out.
