gaffy, thanks for letting me know about this thread. I've been on holiday, hence missed seeing it sooner.
larky, hello
. Lilley is one of my lines of research. My fellow rootschatters seem to have already given you some good info on this thread, which has no doubt been of great help to you.
I'll hopefully have time to PM you over the weekend, and share what research I have gathered over numerous years, including William's Scottish death record and his dad Joseph's Irish death record. From memory, I may also have a newspaper item about William and Anna's son Joseph's death, which as you already know, was as a result of being hit by a bus.
Regarding William and Anna's son, William, whom I understand from the PM you sent (which I have just read too), is the line you are interested in. Can you confirm that the Iris Figgins you mentioned as his wife was a second marriage? From memory his wife Edith Irwin and their son Albert Lilley, were killed during the Belfast Blitz of 1941, when it would seem she was visiting her parents at Hogarth Street. They, along with her father and brother, who were also killed, are recorded on the CWGC website. Edith and Albert are buried at City Cemetery, Glenaline extension, Belfast.
