Sweet shop in Bridge of Weir - Cowans and McCartneys
« on: Wednesday 22 July 15 19:24 BST (UK) »
I am researching the Cowans and McCartneys who lived in the Bridge of Weir area in Scotland.  Ellen Cowan, family originally from Fermanagh, Northern Ireland,  married James McCartney in 1879 in Bridge of Weir.  Ellen had a sister, Maggie, who married a William Kidd and apparently owned a sweet shop next to the bridge in Bridge of Weir.  Maggie died in 1942.  Does anybody know anything about these families or the sweet shop?  Thanks.
