I understand that a Sarah Audley, a pauper died aged 70 and was buried at Astbury (St Peter's church Congleton) on 6th September 1829.

Hello, Welcome to RootsChat, :)

It's very scant information and would be very difficult for anyone to help  ???
Do you think that Sarah is an ancestor of yours and if so could you tell us how you've arrived back to her?
Do you have access to Ancestry....... if not it is free from most public libraries and there may be a family tree with someone else searching for her who you could perhaps contact.

Hi Wirralway  ( I love doing that walk ) A big Welcome to Rootschat from me also.
there is this from Astbury  could Sarah Audley be her mother and John Audley her father ??
possibly her mothers burial in 1809 ?
pure speculation - but it looks some type of family connection

Welcome to Rootschat.

The image from FindMyPast of Astbury BTs shows the burial on 6 September 1829 to be for Sarah ANDLEY of Congleton, aged 70.  There is no mention of "pauper".

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Perhaps there are two sets of records.
FindMyPast is showing Bishops Transcripts where there is no mention of pauper and it does look like and is transcribed as Andley.

Yes I think you are right heywood :)
The record that I looked  at is from "Chester Parish Burials " and shows the Church as St Peter.
