wedding photo 'Tina's wedding'
« on: Friday 24 July 15 14:59 BST (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if anyone can help us with this photo. It was marked in the album as 'Tina's wedding' but that is as much as we know.
Tina was born in France in 1875 and moved to Jersey in the late 1880s. Her husband was 8 years he junior and was born in Jersey. We don't know when they were married and this is what we hope to glean from the photo. We would also be grateful if anyone could hazard a guess at the relationships to the other people in the photo. We can't even decide whether the person at the back on the right is male or female! Any ideas anyone???

This is Edwardian & by the fussiness of the outfits I would suggest early-mid decade.
The bride in the middle is looking down at the pageboy so he may be a child from a previous marriage if there was one.
The man behind her is her husband.
Bridesmaids were usually family members but no way of knowing if this is the case here.
The others look like parents or at least senior family members.
I would start looking at a couple of years either side of 1905.

Thanks Jim, that's pretty much what we thought. We have a feeling (simply because of the positioning and body language) that the tall chap behind the groom is the groom's father.

What do you make of the individual on the far right, at the back?? Looks male, but what are they wearing?? Is that a lacy collar??

The collars are lace mantels & she's a lady.
You may find the marriage here:

I know. I'm not asking much :o

Is anyone up for this challenge? I've put this photo up before for dating and someone very kindly responded with a date of around 1905.

If anyone would hazard a guess as to where this photo was taken, it would be very much appreciated. Surely they could have found a prettier setting?? My first thought was vandalised graveyard!

The folks in the photo intrigue me. Would I be right in thinking that the three on the left (our left, as we look at the photo) are further up the social ladder than the three on the right? The poor woman on the bench looks as though she's only barely sitting on it, yet the one on the left has a good two feet of free bench beside her. Or am I reading too much into it?

Also, if anyone can detect any clues as to where in the world this might have been taken, we'd be very grateful. The couple met in Jersey but there are no records for their wedding in any of the Jersey parishes. Might this have been taken in Normandy, France?

Oh, for a time machine.   ;D
