James Simpson & Elizabeth Duncan Moray Scotland (possibly New Spynie)
« on: Saturday 25 July 15 02:05 BST (UK) »
Hi, Can anyone please help with information on James Spalding bn: c.1793  (New Spynie ??) Moray Scotland who married Elizabeth Duncan bn: c.1797 (New Spynie ??) Moray Scotland. Married about 1818 in New Spynie.
One known child Isabella Simpson bn: 17th February 1819 New Spynie Moray Scotland.

In the old version of the familysearch website ---International Genealogical Index v5.0 the above information was all that I can find on them a few years ago. Looking on the new familysearch website I can't find it anymore. I have a lot of information on Isabella Simpson who married William Ross but I am looking for  more children of James & Elizabeth and possibly James & Elizabeth's parents. Any help with information about this family would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Malky,
Just had a look at the link you gave me......... I saw those a few days ago but they are to early. James wasn't born until 1793, that James and Elizabeth Simpson's children were born in the 1750's. It's seems that there are two Simpson families with the same names,  but quite a years apart.
Many thanks

Cheers Aileen. ???

Hi, your post kinda confused me, as you seemingly have two surnames, Spalding and Simpson. Or is Simpson a middle name ?
Isabella seems to have married at 15years old.

Malky

Hi Malky,
I have two families living in the same area of Duffus, Elgin, New Spynie  Moray area of Scotland
One is Spalding and the other Simpson. I have been able to find information on James Spalding but not to much on James SIMPSON  and it is the Simpson family I am now trying to trace a bit further back. It has been a bit hard to get anything on the family other than Isabella's birth.
Spalding and Simpson being similar makes it all very confusing.

Yes, Isabella was married at a very young age born 1819.

Cheers Aileen    :D

Name:   James Simpson
Gender:   Male
Baptism Date:   15 Nov 1793
Baptism Place:   Edinkillie,Moray,Scotland
Father:   Alexr. Simpson
Mother:   Margret Buie
FHL Film Number:   990797

I cannot find a marriage, and the only baptism is the one above. These sites may help, on Scotlands people there is not a marriage coming up for a James Simpson and Elizabeth Duncan in Moray between the dates 1811-1824.
There are 2 baptisms coming up for an Isabella Simpson dates 1817-1823. But once the fathers name James Simpson is entered- no matches.
