Henry Tidmarsh: where, how, when??
« on: Saturday 25 July 15 10:19 BST (UK) »
I'm doing a friends family tree which is very interesting - lots of Army Majors and generals in India, illegitimate son of a Baronet, solicitors and doctors. Into this family tree came:
Henry Tidmarsh - born 1830 Overbury. Deaf and Dumb from birth. Of independent means. Marries late. Only trace of him that I can find is 1881 in Lewisham with wife Caroline.
Can't find a birth, marriage or death or any other trace in census records.

Possible link to the family- A Tidmarsh family were important landowners in Overbury (Kemerton)-possibly Roman Catholics. Did find an 1828 marriage between Henry Tidmarsh and Frances Bick with a Fanny Tidmarsh (gentlewoman) living in Bath in 1851 with 2 daughters born in Overbury - but no son Henry.

Would love to find out:
where Henry was from birth
how he financed his life as Annuitant
when he died

My eyes are tired from looking and ( as the sun is unusually shining in Lancashire) I must go out and tackle the weeds!! Thanks in anticipation of some replies.  Rose H

hi
Like you struggling a bit here.
There's his Admin 12.7.1884
Henry Tidmarsh £884 late of Brieuc Cotes du Nord Brittany in France a gentleman  widower died 24.10.1881 at St B was granted to Frances Mary Tidmarsh of Kemberton the daughter and next of kin.

It does seem quite soon after the 1881 census but the daughter fits and with Agnes born in France that seems right. But Caroline's death is also proving a problem.

This looks to be the family in 1891 at 234 Christchurch Road Bournemouth
Caroline M Tidmarsh 53 married Florence
Agnes 16 St Brieuc France
Frances M 11 Lewisham
Lillian A M  17 visitor Weirtbe  school governess Northam Devon
Sarah Williams servant 31 Brecon

When Caroline dies June 10 1922 she leaves a Will £120 5s 11d to Frances Mary Theresa Kolesar wife of Thomas Henry Paul K.Died of Oak Tree Cottage Harrow on the Hill at Nazareth House Isleworth.
The census we can't mention gives her as a widow ,extra child who died but I can't see her in 1901.
There's something on him in the Worcester Journal 19.2.1876,23.2.1878 and 24.2.1877 but I don't have a sub to view.

All I can see at the moment

His name (comes up in 1859, 1876, 1877  and 1878 in the Berrow's Worcester Journal in each case as one of the "persons of whom the Company or Partnership consists" - the company in question being the The Gloucestershire Banking Company.  In 1859 address Dinan Cotes de Nord, 1878 address St Brieuc Cotes de Nord France.    He may have been involved in the Worcester City and County Bank but the page won't load!!  Lloyds Bank archives have information on both banks.

Money from Daddy no doubt reading beteween the lines of the Kemerton entry on British History on line
I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

I'd been following the Gloucester Banking link and the Lloyds records.
In 1847 Henry Tidmarsh appears as a "Person of whom the Company or Partnership consists" at Overbury, near Tewksbury, Gent

In 1880 Frances Tidmarsh  appears as a "Person of whom the Company or Partnership consists" at St Brieux, Cotes du Nord, France, spinster
