I have William McGowan as my gr gr grandfather --he was born in Co Leitrim in 1834 .I have him on the 1891 census living in Morningside ,Lanarkshire --married to Mary Anne Finlayson from Lochcarron .I am looking for his parents .

Did he marry in Scotland? if so, the marriage certificate is likely to list parents details.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
