newspaper report ?

Just wondering if there was a local news paper for Ballachulish or surrounding area. If my James Clark is from the Clark family in Appin, I am wondering if it may have been reported he had take off and had left for England. Is there the equivalent of the news paper archives in Scotland. It is just a thought as I am sure it would have been a big deal to leave such a possible small community.
