I found a Gavin Hamilton, son of James Hamilton/ Janet Livingstone (married before 1422) who became the ancestor of the Hamitons of Dalzell; he married Jean Hamilton.
Gavin’s brother James, 6th Laird of Cadzow was later made Lord of Parliament as 1st Lord Hamilton.
Dalzell House is in Motherwell and Cadzow Castle is in Hamilton.
In my research on the Hamiltons of Brounieside, I found a Gavin Hamilton married to Jane Hamilton 1805, New Monkland. They had their children at Arbuckle farm. The name Gavin appears several times in this line, but I have not been able to make a connection, if there is one.
Does anyone have any more information on these Hamiltons?
