James & Agnes Jamieson
« on: Tuesday 28 July 15 04:19 BST (UK) »
Searching for James Jamieson & Agnes Hume were married 12th Oct 1844

I have them in the 1841 census with daughter Agnes, age 5, and 2  siblings living in Westfield? Haddington, East Lothian.

By 1851 she is living with William and Euphemia Darge. Living in the Village of Abbey, Haddington

James and Agnes disapeared  between  1841,51.

I am also Trying to confirm Euphemia is James Jamieson's  sister

Agnes's marriage certificate to John Watson (1868) has the name Euphemia Jamieson.
Getting more confused the more I search!

Hi I am a bit confused with the dates also you say you have them in the 1841 census with children but they did not marry till 12/10/1844 Prestonkirk East Lothian is this the correct marriage ?

Going by some of the children for a James Jamieson and Agnes Hulme is this them in the 1861 census address Bolton East Lothian
James Jamieson b 1824 Haddington age 37 farm steward
Agnes Jamieson b 1824 Salton Haddingtonshire
Agnes Jamieson b 1846 Prestonkirk Haddington
Thomas Jamieson b 1848 Prestonkirk
Margaret Jamieson b 1851 Edrom
Janet Jamieson b 1854 Haddington
Jane Jamieson b 1857 Bolton
Robert Jamieson b 1860 Bolton
Is this the same family

Is it possible we have two different families here ?
Checked the 1861 census for William Darge and Euphemia Darge where an  Agnes Jamieson is with them born 1846 Aberlady age 15 ( sister in law ) address Village of Abbey

There is a marriage for William Darge 4/6/1858 Haddington to Euphemia Reid

Both children from the census has the mother Euphemia Reid

There is a tree with this Agnes Jamieson married to John Watson no parents listed they have a death for her June 1922 Alnwick Northumberland

I would say Agnes is the sister of Euphemia Reid there is a tree with Euphemia Jamieson Reid married to William Darge ..You might be better to get the marriage for this couple to see who her mother was and witnesses to try and work out the relationship

Hi Rosie.
Shows how confused I had got. It was the 1851 Census (not 1841 ) As you found. And I have the 1861 as you found. My dates were wrong !!!!!! :

Yes we have 2 families here. I had trouble with the sister in law entry.
Yes I have  Agnes Jamieson  married to John Watson 1868.

Their Daughter Agnes I have married to William Richardson Hay 1901 in Durham. I think I need to find this  marriage certificate.
I have the birth Certificate for an Agnes Watson, parents Agnes and John.

Agnes was a popular name !!!!!!
 Many thanks for your help.
