Hi there,

What information did Mary supply about herself when she married Edward FRENCH in Western Australia in 1863?
Marriage 15 April 1863 York, Western Australia.

Just that she was of full age

I would expect it to also give you the following details about herself that she would have provided to the clergyman.

her full names (so any middle names)
her status
her occupation
her residence
Her father's full name, occupation (and sometimes a note if he was known to be deceased)
The clergyman's name would also be on the certificate, as well as his denomination and the names of the witnesses .... perhaps at least one may have been related to her?

Have you compared her signature on the 1863 marriage cert with her signature on the 1876 one?

What information did she give about herself on the 1876 marriage?  Does it give any clues as to where she was born?

I wonder if Mary's maiden name was recorded on the WA birth certificates for any of her children?

Cheers,  JM

On one website, a poster recently (January 2015) explains that " Edward French married Mary Leahy (spelling variant) Catholic records are in Latin so Mary is Maria. 15 Apr 1863 holy Trinity Ch. York WA.",

So, I wonder if you could please advise at least as to which denomination is noted on the 1863 marriage.    Knowing the denomination for Mary's marriage may well help those looking in the Irish records for her.

Cheers,  JM
