Cannot find Isaac Cole and family in 1861 census and onwards
« on: Tuesday 28 July 15 18:41 BST (UK) »
Evening all

I am unable to find Isaac Cole and family in the 1861 census and onwards - can anyone help?

Isaac age 30 and wife Mary, age 28, are with 4 children in the picturesquely named Mushroom Cottage in Nempnett, Somerset in the 1841 census HO107/947/10/8/9

In 1851 they're still in Nempnett with children HO107/1938/9/12. And then I lose track of them - my searches on various sites haven't given me anything that looks likely. Isaacs place of birth is given as Blagdon, Somerset, and Mary's as Winford, Somerset.

There's a possible death for Isaac in 1866 in Taunton reg district, and another possible death in 1887 in Bedminster registration district

Could you say how you arrived at this family, presumably they are not direct ancestors?

Thank-you

Not exactly direct ancestors - Harriet who married Reuben Bull is my grandmothers first husbands grandmother.

That would explain being unable to find him in the 1861 census.  And I think Clutton is the right registration district for Nempnett, presuming he stayed put there for his entire life

There is the death of a Charlotte Coll registered with the same year, ref number etc- Maybe their daughter??

Edit - And a possible death of a Mary Cole the previous quarter in Clutton
