Short Service Attenstation
« on: Thursday 30 July 15 09:50 BST (UK) »
Could someone just explain to me exactly what a Short Service Attestation was and the reasons why it might be issued in 1915. Also where I might try to find out more information if possible. Thanks.

Have a look at this page:
http://www.1914-1918.net/recruitment.htm

The Short Service Attestation was introduced by Lord Kitchener in 1914, under which a man could serve for "three years or the duration of the war, whichever the longer".

Rather than the 12 years of service normally demanded when joining the Army.
