James White
« on: Friday 31 July 15 00:40 BST (UK) »
Another one in the Wairarapa.   My father was Matthew WHITE, born Masterton 1914.  His father was
George Thomas WHITE and mother Elizabeth (nee DUNN).     G.T.White and his second marriage has cropped up with an earlier topic of mine  (James Sillars).    Elizabeth died just months after my father was born also in 1914.    He was raised by other family members.

However, very recently I have been made aware that my father may have had a brother, James born
1903.   I have found this which I have reduced down to DOB  3-12-1903

1974/129614   White    James    Elizabeth   George

The registration date is weird at 1974.   Other info I have is  --
He possibly was raised by Elizabeths parents,  Matthew and Sarah DUNN of Whakataki.
If this is the case he may have carried the DUNN name.
That he was enrolled at Whakataki school.
There is no mention of him in George Thomas White's probate report  -  only my father and Jean
from his second marriage.

So did he in fact exist at all ?
Did he die in infancy ?
Did he carry on to adult life ?

Anything you good people can come up with would be greatly appreciated
Thanks so much

Regards  Bloodnok    (John White)

Hi Bloodnok (rock and roll  :) :) )

The birth may have been registered later when he applied for something like a passport

Hi John

Possible death (day/month not quite right ??)

1983 - WHITE - James Matthew - d.o.b.  8/ 11 / 1903

   ~  Lu

Edit:   New info shows this man was born in England 1903 - s/o James and Agnes.

Hi Lu -

Well done  -  the "Matthew" in a good find.  As you have no doubt deduced this is very widely used family name.

Cheers B   :)

Hi Lu  - Yes this is the Matthew Dunn of Whakataki.  When he became old he moved first to Masterton, then when Sarah died to a son (also Matthew) in Martinborough, then to his daughter Agnes White in Hampden, North Otago where he died (and buried) in 1937.    Agnes brought up my father - she had married Fred White, a brother of George Thomas.

Cheers B
