The Church of Ireland loss is probably due to so many C. of I. records being sent to Dublin for safe-keeping- and then destroyed-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I do have David's Marriage 1884 and he married by the rites of the Presbyterian Church. It does not give his age, parents or fathers occupation. His occupation is brick maker.  He died 1935 and was buried Church of England.  I guess he was Protestant. I have been in touch with the Presbyterian Archives in Sydney and they have no records of this minister (W J Cubert) at all.

I will try all your suggestions and see if anything comes up

Thank you

I have a David Sydney Thompson b1916 in Sligo, died 2004 in Hastngs NZ in my  Livingston family tree.

My Livingstons are from the parish of Killoran in Sligo. My 2x gt grandfather's oldest sister was Ann Livingston born 1807 who married James Davis. Their granddaughter Mary Anne Crean b1885 married  John Martin Thompson of Ballymote Sligo. They were the parents of David Sydney Thompson.

There could be a connection to your family.

Sorry for the delay in answering but the obituary for David took a month to come.  It has born 25 April 1854 in Killovan County Sligo Ireland, I think it should be Killoran, where he spent his youth and gained agricultural experience.  He could be a sibling of the girl that married in Canada with parents David and Eliza Thompson(Craig).  In the year 1876 aged 22 he sailed on the ship "Taranaki" for New Zealand. It may have sailed from London.  My next stop is passenger lists in NZ.  It is a great obit and lists every job he had and what land he bought, also his daughters married names.  It was worth waiting for.
